Proxy_Explorers is a small group PSL designed for slice-of-life interactions interspersed with various missions undertaken on behalf of the MDSOBs. Missions can vary in type and scope. Mostly it's an excuse for people to play with each other.
Basic Rules
Just so it's all spelled out.
1. Be Excellent to each other/don't be a jerk to each other.
Try to engage with each other with kindness and politeness. If you feel unable to for whatever reason, please feel free to contact the owner with a PM to this journal.
2. In character DOES NOT EQUAL Out of character.
Please remember that someone can be playing an absolute jerk In character, and out of character they may be the nicest sweetheart. Please keep conflicts that are In Character IN CHARACTER. If there is a problem, please talk to each other. If you're not comfortable engaging with the other person, please PM this account and We'll mediate and/or intervene.
3. Have fun. Please remember this is all just make-believe and for fun. If it starts becoming too much, don't be afraid to tell someone or to take a break.
Setting Info
The Multi-Dimensional-Semi-Omniscient-Semi-Omnipotent-Beings (MDSOSOB)
Energy beings who exist on a level that straddles multiple dimensions at once, allowing them to see and know much more than most beings. They have abilities to manipulate time and space to a degree, with inducing paradox being the one thing they're unable to do. They are able to take a big picture view of things, and often can see things from far-out, but they lack an ability to see finer details and smaller pictures. They are, on the whole, curious and beneficial beings who are willing to trade service for service, hence why they are instituting their Exploration program.
All potential explorers are approached prior to their agreeing to serve. The 'how' they're approached is left vague; it can be in a dream, as someone is dying or near-death, a vision--the details are unimportant. The MDSOSOBs will explain what they are seeking: beings who are willing to explore unknown sections of space and subsections of dimensions, living on a space ship with others, to act as proxy-explorers for the MDSOSOBs. This is dangerous, but the MDSOSOBs will do what they can to provide resources and take care of basic needs and comforts.
Further, they are willing to offer information, wish, boon, or some type of reward, as best they can--for service. For some, this might be something simple, for others, something complicated. They will not receive their reward until their service is ended, and the explorers are sent home. Once someone is sent home, they are restored to the state they were, roughly, when they were taken. Their memories of their time as explorers will fade, but their reward may alter some things. The one major limitation the MDSOSOBs have is again, they can not cause paradox.
The Exploration Ships
The ships are vaguely submarine-esque in design, designed to hold up to 25 people. It's not entirely polished and shiny, but nice enough. Modifications can be made to somewhat accommodate various paradigms and resident's needs. The ship itself is divided, normally, into 5 sections.
Section 1--Command Operations
Where the command deck and helm are located, along with administration-sections that monitor the entire ship. Most major controls for the ship are located here, as are emergency supplies and escape pod-controls should evacuation be deemed necessary. Escape-Pods themselves are located just aft of the main Command section.
There is a terminal specifically in Command Ops designed to contact the MDSOSOBs and to receive missions from them. Their answers may not always be what one might expect though--they often see the 'forest' but miss the 'trees' after all.
Command Operations
Section 2--Living Quarters
Where crew stays, and the second largest section of the ship. There are 25 individual rooms with private bathrooms and a microwave and sink. Example here
There is a large common area with couches and storage areas for personal goods. There is a small and limited virtual reality gaming booth with some very basic programs.
This area also houses a small kitchen and cafeteria as well as the supply stores. The Kitchen itself has standard appliances in the form of oven, fridge, dishwasher, and sink. Cabinets surround it containing dishes and can store small supplies of non-perishables. There is a specific garbage disposal unit. Adjoined to it is the small cafeteria space with 5 round tables that can each seat 5 people. The supply stores include a walk-in-frozen section and walk-in freezer.
There is also a small Armory that holds basic and 'signature' weapons. Aka basic weapons that might be allowed/found commonly in almost any setting. And 'signature' weapons that belong to individual characters. [OOC: Don't go nuts, but assume you have what you need just in case and should a mission require it.]
Section 3--Medical Bay
Medical Bay is able to be locked-down and sealed off from the other sections, also boasting its own life support systems. A sample of the surgical and exam rooms is below, there is also a lab-section where medicine and supplies are stored, along with a cryogenics section. Cryogenics will not support a humanoid, but is meant for small storage of samples.
Medical Bay
Section 4--Engineering
Engineering
Fairly self-explanatory. Engineering is where the bulk of the day-to-day running of how the ship 'moves' and operates is done. This is also where recordings and data will be collected for the MDSOSOB's.
Section 5--The Hangar
Last but not least, the Hangar is where small mecha or shuttle-transports can be docked, in the event that the Explorers go on planetary expeditions. The rest of the time, this is where the bulk of supplies are stored, extra as well as required supplies for the functioning of the ship. It may also be used for recreational games that do not damage the ship or structure thereof.
Hangar Bay
The Crew
Everyone who is 'crew' is brought and arrives in their 'bunk', in uniform. The basic uniform are navy-blue and black in color, consisting of a black undershirt (tee-shirt style), Blue BDU-style jacket and pants, or jumpsuit. Black combat boots are supplied as well. Potentially some mild-adaptation/modification for the crew-member's tastes can be accommodated. A patch bearing their last name (if known) and a rank abbreviation are located over the left breast area. Their normal clothing is provided in the room's closets, along with necessary or wanted personal effects.
Uniforms are not required. They're 'encouraged' to help crew form cohesion and for quick identification, but not required.
For exploratory missions, space suits are found in the Hangar. They are thin enough to not hinder maneuverability too much, but are still more bulky than most would want to wear for anything other than moving around in a hostile or lacking-atmosphere. Some lighter equipment in the form of breather-masks can also be found, to allow more full maneuverability. Light Armor and Weapons will be provided as needed for hostile situations during missions.
Crew are also provided with a communication device known as an Omni-Band, a form of advanced technology the MDSOSOB's have granted the explorers, to stay in touch with each other and to record data as needed. It is a thin, flexible, circular metallic band (not unlike a torc-style necklace) that can expand and contract to be worn around the neck or the wrist. It has two functional physical forms when removed. The first (Figure #1) reveals a touch screen in the center. The second (Figure #2) mimics a traditional cell phone with split screen display.
Omni-Band
The Omni-Band is typically metallic silver, black, or dark blue, with the center display being an opaque grey or purple, and the contrasting text automatically adjusts to the surrounding light source.
It is not recommended one 'modify' their Omni-band, as they are designed to do most everything a highly advanced smart phone can do, as well as project small holographic screens and interface with computers via an extendable cable in the silver-portion of the Omni-Band.
[IF anyone wants to subject themselves to it, this is exactly like the phone-neck-band-thingy Toola uses, in Origin: Spirits of the Past. I don't recommend the anime, but this piece of tech from it was COOL.]
How does Crew arrive?
Well, all crew has been approached, already, somehow by the MDSOSOBs, and have agreed (for whatever reason) to be crew. They will wake up in their bunks, and all Crew-members' Omni-bands will activate and project a screen. The screen will bear a profile pic of the individual crew member, with their name and some vital-stats, and their position.
I've included a sample of how it looks to everyone else. You are filling this out In-Character, as you're here willingly on behalf of the MDSOSOBs. This is to help you have a small idea of who you're crew with.

Waystations
Waystations are space stations where up to 3 Explorer vessels may dock at a time, and are designed to allow crew to rest and recharge, along with resupplying their ships. Amenities include nicer crew cabins, a Library, small VR holodeck, an Indoor Pool, and high tech gym.
Some waystations will also boast an artificial hydroponic greenhouse.
Overall the waystations are meant to help everyone take a break. Occasionally they might feature a socially based mission, and are also where crew transfers happen. That said, they're a little too perfect. Being designed by beings who can only see the 'forest', not the 'tree's, small details are likely to be off, or uncanny, so looking too hard might cause some mental discomfort and a feeling of unease.
